My first pick would be the Bridgestone Dueller A/T or M/T and second would be the Futura Dakota RVT...

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-Oct-02 AT 10:04 AM (EST)]I'd have to go with BF Goodrich Long Trail (better on the road) or BFG Rugged Trail (better off-road). I have a '97 Explorer and will soon have it in the snowy mountains of Wyoming. I will also be using it to drive to Kansas every now and then. Next time I replace the tires, I'm going with the Long Trails.

BF Goodrich has an unbeatable reputation in the off-road industry, and these two sets of tires are a compromise between off-road and highway tread designs.

Just my .02
