asking this for a friend

Hey folks, Can you put a set of manual hubs on a 96 Ranger 4x4? Have a friend who has been told the entire front axle needs to be swapped in order to do this, Sound correct??

Thanks

The answer is yes. Whoever told your buddy that he needs an entire front axle R&R must be thinking that he has PV hubs which came out later.

That ebay deal is pretty good but look at the same hubs he offers for the Explorer for $139. He's wanting a few extra bucks for the nuts, etc in the "buy it now price" for the Ranger. Since he gave his phone number, why not call him and see if you can get him to come down a bit. I think he's adding a bit too much for the hardware.

or call a local bone yard. All you need is the spindle nut conversion kit, and the hubs, and your home free. I got my hubs off an explorer for 60 bucks, and the conversion kit for 50. I think its pretty rare that you would have problems with used manual hubs.
