Howling noise while driving??????

Has anyone noticed a howling noise while pressing on the gas at different speeds? It doesn't happen all the time and is not very lound, but its enough to notice. The noise seems to come from passenger side. Going to take it in this week sometime.

Howling Noise

I hear it too and it seems to be getting louder. only howls when when there is a load on the drive train. Let off the gas and noise stops. I dont remember hearing this when I took the truck for a test drive. 2004 supercrew.

I had a bad Whining noise when accelerating at ALL speeds. They replaced my Transmission - noise gone.

They replaced the whole transmisson? How long was it in the shop for?

BlkButy 05-31-2004 07:48 PM

Took it in on a Friday morning and did not get it back until Tuesday afternoon! Oh but the good news was they loaned me a Focus - OH boy!~

i have the same noise. I only here it when the gas pedel is pressed between 70 and 75 mph. If i take my foot off the gas, no noise. If you take it to the dealer please please let me know i am very interested, just havent had time to take it in!!!!!

I had the exact same problem at 62mph and 72mph. Dealer changed ring and pinion in rear end. I still can hear it at 72mph just barely. I'm going to wait a few miles before talking to dealer again.

rearend

The dealer replaced the ring and pinion gears in mine twice and that did not fix the problem. They put a brand new whole rearend that is the only way to fix this problem. They had to go thru the ford rep to get this done IT IS THE ONLY REAL FIX! Ford is aware of this major problem so they should take care of it for you after they try the ring and pinion gear. Lariat 3.73 LS 5.4 4x2 Screw , Tow Pkg :-X05 good luck :-X05

howling noise

Is it coming from the front end, or the back? I have a howl in my Dodge around 2100 rpm. I'm pretty sure it's just the air resonating in the intake (in the passenger side fender). There's no performance loss, and it's definetely from the front end, so I never worried about it. A howl is definetely different than a whine.

Took my truck to the dealer today, said it might be the differental but they will keep it and check it out. I got a mustang

I'm having the same whinning sound coming from the rear while I'm accelerating and holding at that speed. mainly between 30-70mph. but as soon as I take my foot off the pedal as in for instance, going downhill or leveling off, it stops!!! only difference is it's my wife's 2004 Expedition NBX w/Autotrac. I hope the Lariat 4X4 I ordered don't have the same problem :-X01

Got my F-150 Screw back from the dealer today. They put new ring and pinion in and it seems ok for now. I will keep an ear out for this in the future. Only suppose to change the oil every 300 miles not the rear end gears.
