MY Flatmotor Block, that is.
I finally pulled the motor the rest of the way out of the truck and got it tore down. It came apart rather easy. It was completely stock, ford, unknown year (Other than a newer model), and looked soooo sweet.
I could find NO cracks with in the usual places the the Flatties are notorious for.
Its in for it's first Hot-tanking and Magna Flux. If everthing proves out OK, it will come back to the house for porting, relieving and a mollassis bath.
Then as funds areavailable I will have the boring, decking and other work done.

Bored - stroked - big cam - and sidedrafts. (Unless someone donates a blower).

Now I can start onsome more body work, or as Momma says "Get out the Frankenstien Vat" and do some electrolisis rust removal.

Is it worth relieving a flattie? I thought you only had to do that for aftermarket heads. Since it's a great block I think is would be a shame to grind that beautiful deck. :-X16

Some of Mr. Fords earlier engines had the block relief cut, and since then there has always been debate over the need.
Lately some of the more renown Flatmotor Builders have been doing a lot of testing on flow benches and dyno's with some very interesting results.
While I don't intend to race the truck, I do want as hot a motor as I can manage on the street, it will be built more towards the race end of the spectrum than the street end.

And yes, I know I'm an Ol' Fart and I'm gonna do it my way.
