trouble code p1395

Tried to get some help with this one a while back, will try again. I have a trouble code # p1395 which from what I can find is telling me it has to do with the glow plug monitor - bank # 1. I cleaned the contacts on the glow plug solenoid last weekend and checked all resistance readings from there through the system down to each glow plug. All came in with good readings of about one ohm. I then reset the light, and it stayed off for the rest of the afternoon. The next cold start was in the afternoon the following day, and the check engine light returned. I check for a voltage drop at the solenoid, and it was apparent that one did not exist. I did notice that the solenoid turned off about ten seconds into my test (key on engine off). Needing some good armchair advice on where to look next.

are you sure that is the right trouble code?

Yes. P1395 "glow plug monitor fault (Bank # 1)". I had to follow the link provided in my users guide that came with my code reader. www.codereader. com

Looks like we got ourselves a stumper here....

Had almost the same problem with my 97, except on mine both banks were giving codes. 1395,1396 If my memory is correct. Dealer said that only models with california emissions systems will give the check engine light with those codes. I ended up just replacing the glow plug relay with one from the local international dealer and that fixed it.

THANKS!
Kind of figured the same (Kahliphonia as Arnold says it) by reading some info found through a link on the site. Do you mean the solenoid looking thing on top of the valve cove next to the fuel filter? I could fix that easy. Should I expect to bend over when informed of the price?

Sounds like you found it, looks like a solenoid, has 2 large wires and 2 small wires.
Ford wanted $100 for the part, International dealer was $22.
Pretty easy to swap out.
