285 tires
 

I would like to put 285 60 18s on my super crew.The stock tires are 265 60 18 and they ride great and very little road noise.They just look too small.I would like to fill up thoses whell wells and I think I could gain almost an inch with the 285 but I sure do not want to lose the ride and handling of the bfg 265.
Anyone that has done this please give me some advice

Yes they make them.Had to go to tirerack.com to double check my self.

I put 285/75 R18's on my 2000 f150 lariat. They fit perfect and look way better than stock. i gained about an inch.

what brand tires were the 285 75 18

Nitto Terra Grappler 285/60R18's here ... love the look. The ride and handling have been flawless.

KUMHO 285/60VR18 "ECSTA STX"
 

I have an '04 F-150 Screw Lariat 4 x 2......and just took off the stock P265/60R18, BFG Radial Long Trail T/A, ROWL tires (@35 PSI) that came on the truck.....and put on a set of 285/60VR18 KUMHO "ECSTA STX", solid blackwall, "V" speed rated tires (@38 PSI).....mounted on the factory stock alloy wheels that come on the Lariat. They look GREAT, and go a long way to help fill up the excessively large wheel wheels, as they are about .94" larger in diameter than the original BFG's.

The new KUMHO's ride better than the stock BFG's, and they are substantially quieter. The KUMHO's provide substantially better acceleration and braking performance, and their cornering performance is FAR SUPERIOR to the original BFG's. Also, their wet road (heavy rain) high speed performance is absolutely AWESOME; not even a hint of hydroplaning, even in a heavy thunderstorm downpour at interstate highway speeds of 65 - 70 MPH....just smooth and sure footed all the way.... :) :) :-X22 :-X22

Discount Tire Co. gave me $40.00 "trade in" value for each of my BFG's with 14,000 miles on them. I had only used 2/32" of the original tread, and they were "like new". My total "out the door" price with all the warranties, lifetime rotations, lifetime balancing, a WRITTEN 50,000 mile tread wear warranty, etc. was $400.00 AFTER trade in..... :) :) :) 8D 8D :-X22 :-X22

At this point in time, I can't say enough good things about my new KUMHO's....and would STRONGLY recommend them to anybody considering a tire upgrade for their truck.

As soon as I wash my truck, I will take some pictures of my new tires and some truck side views so you can see what they look like.

Road noise
 

Gordo,how about the road noise with those Nittos? I may be asking for too much,ride handling and low road noise.I think you got the cat-backs or something so you may not notice too much road noise anyway.

I had the Nitto's almost two (2) full months before putting on the Borla cat-back. I found that the Nitto's did NOT increase my road noise to any truly noticeable level. The truck is quiet already. I can understand your concern if you're wanting to make sure things stay quiet. Even so, I think you'd be quite pleased with the minimal increase in sound. Seriously, I've had zero issues with noise, handling, and ride. It's a good ride ... and they give the truck a nice look IMO. I got mine at my local Discount Tire store ... traded in my stocks for $60 each with 25 miles on the truck. I, too, opted for the full warranty, etc. I'm due to go back in next month for my 6-month free checkup and rotation.

Those Kumho's, if you like them, would be more economical. I liked the Nitto's from the day I saw them ... and never knew the Kumho's existed until I read this post. They look quite good though.
