C6 Rebuild
How much does it usually cost to have a C6 rebuilt that can handlel some decent power from a 390?
Right now the C6 has a 360 bolted to it, what will I need to buy to bolt my 390 to this tranny? If anything? |
I have a C-6 behind my 360 and when it was rebuilt the guy used a heavy duty Trans-Go kit and that tranny has taken a beating from me.. granted it is stock power.. but I have hauled car trailers (yes I know its only a 1/2ton). I have burnt many tires off the rimes (yes I know immature) and it was rebuilt in 1992! He charged me $600
The same guy built the C-6 4wd for my 1984 Bronco which has a 460 pushing approx 420 hp and 500 ft-lb's of TQ. I don't roast tires with this truck (though I could, them 32" BFG's cost too much) but I do tow a 2 or 4 place snowmobile trailer during the winter. He used the same heavy duty Trans-go kit, I have a TCI Truckmaster torque converter in their as well as the AOD 1st and 2nd gear planetaries. That rebuild was done in 2002 and cost me $900, but that included the cost of the AOD planetaries. So I am saying I enjoy both of my C-6's with the Trans-go kits The 360 has the same bolt pattern as the 390. All FE Engines(352,360,361,390,391,406,410,428) |
ramboss429, i just put a reman C-6 in my 2x4 75 F-250 CS, and what steveUzi said i also had the HP trans-go kit installed, I'm running a 390 engine, HP Comp cam 268/502 lift 750 holley, runs real strong, she'll bark off 2nd. gear , go for it ! !
