7.3 Diesel,mechanical pump leaking oil.

Fairly new to this diesel, the pump looks like any old manual pump, like a 350 chevy type, is it a big deal to put a new gasket in it to stop it from leaking ?

Not a big deal. Just undo the two bolts and remove. Just make sure that you get the drive lever under the pump lobe and not on top.
Also now would be a good time to switch over to an electric pump, it makes priming the filter (after you have changed it) much easier. You can use a chevy big block fuel pump block off plate.
