Exhaust Part Help

Can anyone help me locate the exhaust pipe on the driver's side, from the manifold(no header's, darn-it all) to the first slip joint. This piece has the two converter's built in. I of course would need one with good converter's,as I believe mine are no good(BAD converter,,BAD!!!!) The rattling noise from the second one even prompted me to swap out my Flowmaster, because I thought a baffle had broken loose. The si/do magnaflow sounds ok, but the converter still rattles, and in hindsight, the rattling in my muffler was probably broken pieces of converter that had blown downstream and been caught by the baffle's. All the local wrecking yards say they can't sell used conveter's, so they throw them away .Anybody got a totalled 99-02 lying around with this pipe on it??? :-huh

Rattle releif!!!!

You probably don't have to replace the converter at all...!!!... Ford welds some metal onto the converter with the part number and some other stuff on it, usually the welds break and you start to hear the rattling. I had 2 out of four go on my fathers 97 f150. :-X09 I was thinking I had to replace them as well until a friend of mine who works in a muffler shop told me he gets this problem in all the time. Find out which converter is rattling and take some good old neddle nose plyiers and pull out the metal. That should take care of the rattling :-X22

Give that a shot before spending money on new parts for the exhaust.

I already removed both heat shields to see if anything was loose , it's definitely inside the 'cat.

As far as I know, the piece your are speaking of is just a 2 1/2" diameter exhaust pipe that is perfectly straight. I must have misunderstood you. Are you talking about the exhust piping the comes straight out of the manifold into the first converter? If so, just go to a muffler shop and get a 2 1/2" diameter pipe that fits from 1 to the other. But I still think I missunderstood you.

No prob, I mean that this pipe has the two converter's already with it. The local wrecking yards won't sell used converter's, therefore they throw these pipes away, or sell them to the recycler, to be recycled for the converter material .I just don't want to have to pay through the nose to get new cats, but this rattling is driving me crazy.(okay no comments on how short a drive that may be)
