Oil capacity for 4.9L V6

Hey guys, I'm new here. I just bought a 1992 F150 Flare Side for a word truck. Seems like a real nice truck! Unfortunately the guy that I bought it from did not have the owner's manual. I searched all around the internet last night trying to find out what the correct oil capacity is for the engine with the oil filter on so that I can change my oil correctly. Unfortunately my search came up empty. I was hoping that if somebody else had this same engine and actually had the owner's manual they could look it up for me. Thanks!

BTW, is there a good site that sells old owner's manuals like the one that I don't have?

Welcome to FTE, Jason. The 4.9 litre engine takes six quarts (with a new oil filter) of oil.

You may be able to find a owners manual at a salvage yard, or on Ebay. Another alternative is to purchase a shop manual (eg, Haynes or Chiltons)

Good luck,
Dan

4.9 V6's ???

Since when did they make 4.9 V6's?

If your talking about the straight 6, it takes 6 qts of 10w-30 w/ a new filter. I'm told to let her drip for a good half hour, after pulling the oil plug. :)

the haynes manual is cool because it tells you what oil to use for what temperatures. if its below freezing use 5w30. if its going to be warmer than that use 10w30. the oil filter i use is the motorcraft FL-1A.

Wow that is a lot of oil. I'm used to my miata. :-) I don't think my oil pan can even hold that much at once. Oh well, Thanks!
