max tire size for Explorer?

What's the biggest tire size I can fit onto my '97 Explorer Sport 4x2 and not have to worry about any rubbing? Everthing is stock and my wheels are 16inch I think. I was thinking about getting BFG All-Terrain T/AŽ KO's, whats the biggest I could get them?

31x10.5s with no lift. They look good and you can use your stock rims too.

thanx man, I appreciate it! Has anyone ever used the tires I spoke of?

My X had the BFG All-Terrains on it when I got it... they were just 235's though but they offer it in a 31X10.50. I have Sport King 31X10.50's on it now and the last set I got 40K out of before I changed them. You can run the 31's on the stock rims but they may rub just a little when you turn tight. I went to an aftermarket 15X8" wheel recently with a different offset to correct that, looks a little better too I think with the tires stickin out past the fenders a little more.

Personally, I hate BFGs. I have run both the MT and the AT versions and for the money you pay for them, it isn't worth it IMO. I'm running Bridgestone Duller A/Ts right now and they are hands down the best AT tire I have ever run. If you are looking for an aggressive look, go with the Bridgestone Duller Revo A/T, a Pro Comp A/T or even the Futura Dakota A/T from Pep Boys. I have Wild Country tires on my 250 and they are nice too... check around and see what they got in your area. Sport Kings are nice too from what I've seen of them.

Well, if not the BFG's, how about Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires? They are about the same price but mabye don;t look quite as aggressive. Anyone used these?
