gauge light hookup

i'm installing a transmission temp gauge in my 99' 150 and was wondering if anybody knew where I can hook up the light for this gauge so it corresponds with my dash lights.

I usually connect it to the dash light fuse myself.

So do you get one of the fuses with the pig tail on them or just tap into the fuse some other way?

I use and insert the goes in behind one of the blades that uses a push on spade connector.

Just use a test light or meter to be sure that you hook up to "fused" side of the fuse. With the fuse out turn on the parking lights and see which side of the fuse has power, then hook your wire up to the dead side. This way if it shorts out for some reason, it will blow the fuse and not melt the wiring.

i have a 2000 f-150 and i just used a small scewdriver to pry open the plastic piece that your light switch is on, (look toward the bottom of it) then you can pull it out. i then tapped the light power wire to the red wire with the yellow stripe. then ran the ground down under the dash and bolted it to a metal piece to the left of your left foot under the dash. worked great and all my gauges turn on only when my lights do. hope that helped.
