I am experiencing a momentary vibration in the drive train of my 2001 PSD on take off from a dead stop. The harder I accelerate the worse the vibration is. It only lasts a couple of seconds. Anyone have a similar problem??:-X20

my 2001 350,cc,v10,4x4,lariet does the same thing under hard acceleration only from a dead stop or bearly moving.I never asked the dealer about this couse i thought it was just the limited slip doing its job.But since you brought up this condition i think ill ask my dealer about it.let me know how you make out.:-X03

There is a TSB out on your description. The TSB number is 11844. It reads vehicles may exhibet a vibration or shudder from take off under moderate to hard acceleration. This may be due to a large driveline angle. This condition is normal and not detrimental to the operation of the vehicle, but improvements can be made per the following: 1. Verify the condition that the customer is describing. 2. If the shudder is present, check the center bearing support bracket (4831) to make sure the correct bracket is installed in the vehicle. If not, replace the bracket. 3. Check the center bearing bracket to make sure it is mounted perpendicular to the driveline. It should not be twisted or cocked to one side. 4. If the shudder is still present, determine if the customer uses vehicle loaded more than 50% of the time. If so, evaluate the vehicle while loaded. Shudder improves with load; therefore, shimming of the driveline may not be desired. 5. If the customer uses the vehicle unloaded more than 50% of the time, shim the center bearing down using 3 shims (eotz-4a209-a) for a .75" height. Use bolt 56564-s2 7/16-14 hex flange head grade 5 bolt that allows 3 threads to show past nut. Torque to 70 +/-10.5 nm and use locktite #e2fz-19554-b. 6. If an unacceptable level of shudder is still present and the vehicle is a xl 4x2 142/156/158 wheelbase or xl 4x4 156/158 wheelbase model, replace the driveshaft with one specified for the same application xlt model.
I have a f-350 4x4 sc longbed dual rear wheels larriet 2001 model with this problem. Ford knows of the problem , but not quite sure about jumping on it. I would take this to your dealer to see if you can get some results. They put limited slip additive to my rearend, but thats not the problem. Good luck and I will keep you posted on my results.

They replace the driveshaft on my Excursion for making the same "shudder", "clunk" "noise".
