instrument cluster replacement?

Anyone have to replace their instrument cluster because their remote door locks won't work or dome light stay on? My dealer is going to charge me about $700 to replace the cluster as they say that is the cause of my door ajar light staying on while running, dome and cargo light staying on after I shut down, and my remote door locks malfunctioning. One dealer said it was my body security module. I was going through a CD that suggested the body security module was bad. I'm just wondering what the instrument cluster has to do with any of the symptoms I've had. I'm that unlucky one who could not solve the problem with WD-40 like every other normal person. :(

I don't understand what your instrument cluster would have to do with your problem either. I especially don't like the price tag associated with that "fix" either. I believe you can find them on Ebay for under a $100. I have not replaced one before but have heard it is easy to do. However, back to the root problem.....I don't buy it. I was one of the lucky ones that the WD40 fixed my problem.

Colt, How can that not be a waranty item. 2002, less than 2 years old and they want to replace the cluster and charge you. I think it's a stretch to blame those problems on the cluster but you never know how the ciruitry is laid out.
Still I don't understand how that could be seen as anything but factory failure or bad craftmanship?

WHOA!!!! Hold ON COLT!! Have you tried WD40 in the door latch?? The switch is located in the door latch mechanism and gets stuck. Try the WD40 first and post here before you spent another cent.

Well I have 59, 600+ miles on it and that is how they don't warrantee, as for the WD 40 thing, tried it and it didn't work. I'm still wondering what the cluster has to do with anything. The paperwork says that the body security module could not be programed, which is why the first dealer ordered one, well when the another dealer tried to install and reprogram, they couldn't "communicate" with the module. Still makes me wonder how that has anything to do with the cluster. Rest assured that the service manager will get an ear full and if he doesn't satisfy me, I'll need the phone to the district manager. The cluster is new from what I can tell. Now what if it goes bad again? will they warrantee their work? I hate taking it to the dealer. But there are just some things I am not qualified or equiped to do. (but that's her opinion)
