Thinking about buying a Lightning

Well, some dumb woman in an SUV totaled my GTP.

So I am thinking about maybe getting an L as my new daily driver instead of another GTP. I can't afford insurance on an 01 so I would have to get a 99.

I understand that there was a problem w/the intercoolers not sealing properly? Was there a recall for this? Any other recalls for 99?

Any other problems with 99s?

Also, what were all the options available on 99 Lightnings?

The ones I see in my area are anywhere from $24k to $20k with 40k miles down to about 20k miles on them.

Any and all info on what to look for etc etc etc is appreciated.

The '99s did have an intercooler problem and yes, they were recalled. If you find one that interests you, pull the VIN and have your local Ford dealer check their database to see if the previous owner had the recall repairs made.

As for options........ Lightnings come well equipped and the only option I've ever know them to have is the factory soft tonneau cover. The '99 models did not have an overhead console and I think they also lacked the side mirrors with the built in turn signals.

Good luck!

Do 99 Ls have automatic climate control?

Lightnings do not come with automatic climate control.
