2.9 head bolt torque ?

I have a quick question about the torque sequence on a 2.9. In the book I am using it says to torque in 4 steps. 1st step 22 ft lbs. 2nd step 51-55 ft. lbs. 3rd step wait five minutes. 4th step turn 90 degrees. It is the fourth step that I am confused about because to me it is not very specific. Maybe if I didn't think so hard I would just tighten them up another 90 degrees but I want to make sure that in fact I am suppose to tighten them. Any body have any input on this. Thanks.

the say 90 degrees because a strech bolt is used and an acurate torque wont be achieve on them but it will end up right around 100 ft lbs

It also says that new head bolts are required but I had already purchased new head bolts just in case.

I just did that on my truck, and it was recommended by my mechanic that I use a half inch drive socket instead of a 3/8" drive socket due to the amount of torque that will result. He said the smaller socket most likely will break.

The head bolts are Torx. Do the same rules apply?

I don't know, but I do know the torque will exceed 100 ft lbs.

I had never used "torque-to-yield" head bolts
before...... torquing that last 90 degrees was
WEIRD because the bolts feel like they are going
to snap off!
