Wont idle when cold

I have a 2001 Explorer Sport with the Sohc v-6 engine. When I park the truck overnight or for several hours it starts instantly runs a few seconds and dies. I have to restart it and feather the gas for a minute or two(keeping the idle up at about 2000 RPM's) then it runs fine and smooth as long as you want it to. Could this be the Idle air control valve? It seems to idle fine in any condition except extreme cold. The air cleaner and fuel filter have been changed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated-Thanks.

No chk engine lites ?

It could be the IAC ,also did this just start happening ?

I've seen lower intake o-rings cause this ,but after so ,many drive cycles the chk engine comes on .

The light works when you start it ,right?

No-no check engine light comes on....it is working though as I see it lit when the ignition is first turned on.

Ive got the same problem as have many on this forum. I'm having my lower intake gaskets changed friday. Most with the same problem have found that this fixes the problem. I went the hard road and bought a new MAF, IAC, and changed the upper intake gaskets only to find it did'nt help at all. I'll report back and let ya know if it fixed my problem.
