adjustable rockers and hydrolic lifters

I'm thinking of putting a good set of adjustable roller rockers on my 390, which has hydrolic lifters. How do you adjust valve lash on a set-up like this? When the lifters pump up, does the lash close? Maybe I don't have a clear understanding of how a hydrolic lifter works. Thanks

To adjust rockers with hydraulic lifters, start with the #1 cylinder at it's firing point ( dist. rotor pointing at #1 wire) tighten eack rocker ( int. & exh.) till they just contact the pushrod then tighten another 1/2 turn. Then lock the adjuster. Rotate the crank 1/4 turn and do the next cylinder in line in the firing order. Do this operation on each cylinder's rockers at each ones turn in the firing order till you've done all eight cylinders
