Need info on Imron Paint (in CA)

Hi, guys.
I have had good luck with Imron paint which I understand is made by Dupont. I am curently nearing the end of a restoration and need to know if this stuff is still any good with the emissions changes in California. I am hearing it is now water base.

Am I on track with this stuff? My last jobs lasted 10-15 years without any fading.

Any advice on other finishes?

You got me on that one, thats a nice thing about around here, or laws aren't like california, don't need our cars emmisions tested either. Imron is made by dupont and was a polyurethane, but I haven't used any of it for years. Did you go to dupont's website and see if they had any information on there. You would think they would have something about compatability with the laws. how many voc it is.

Imron, in california i beleive is waterbased.. I'm not sure if Imron is a Single Stage or bc/cc system. If its Single Stage, stay away from it. With todays UV rays and other atmospheric problems, they just wont hold up.

Dupont has a Offbrand called Nason. Its base/clear system holds up very well. PpG and Sherwin Williams also have very good BC/CC systems, thou I cannot speak for their long term durability.

Dupont imron was a single stage polyurethane. Now about the water base I don't know. I only sprayed waterbase once and that was back in tech school cause they wanted us to try different stuff and gm was using wb on some of there cars. I wasn't too impressed with the water base. Maybe they've gotten a lot better now I don't know. Why don't you drive your truck to a different state and spray whatever you want, lol

The problem with Imron was once it started to dull it was toast it could not be brought back. Now that was a million years ago and I have not used it since so things may have changed.
