shop time estimate? bad axle?

hey,

i just replaced both rear wheel bearings / seals, pinion seal, pinion bearings, and crush collar. anybody know what the shoptime estimate would be for this work?

also, the right side axle was a cylinder roller type and was extremely nasty to get off even with a good size press and some heat. the bearing itself actually separated the race and left the lower half on the shaft.

once i pressed off that piece (it split) i noticed that there was some scarring under where the retainer sits. i thought i must have done this with my impatience but then i noticed that the blemish started at the inside and was smeared towards the hub and a bit of metal was kind of piled up at the end of the scrape. it's not big, about the size of a nickel, and it's shallow.

i used a die grinder to removed the raised stuff and enery clothed the area to smooth it out. now i'm wondering if it was wise to reinstall the axle. do you think this axle is living on borrowed time or is it likely to be ok?

see ya

Bob
