1979 Supercab 4x4 conversion

Hey everybody......im sure this has been posted numerous times.......but here we go again...
i have a 1979 supercab 4x2 in superb condition. straight body new interior etc. But ive been dying to convert it to 4wd for years. this wont be my first major restoration and i am an auto mechanic.
My donor truck is a 1978 f250 4wd...
My question then is....
what are some major problems you run into....do you need to lengthn the frame?
i have a friend that built several of these but he has since disapeared and i dont know how to get ahold of him.
He had told me that basically you need to just change body and cab mounts to set the 79 body onto the 78 chassis....
SOOOO any help would be greatly appreciated!
THX

Try this thread for some info on the swap you're talking about.

You also may want to try a search like "supercab wheelbase" to dig up even more information. This type of swap has been discussed and well thought out by many on this board.

Let me get this straight, You have a SC and want to put it on a Reg Cab 4X4 frame? If you get ahold of a Supercab 4X4 Frame The 2wd Body will bolt right up and is an easy job. Try to find a F250 Supercab 4X4 frame from a Rollover or Burn so you dont have to have the frame repaired. If not then There will be some Frame Stretchin for sure. Or I guess you could Shorten the front of the bed and relocate the cab mounts?>
