Windshield gasket

Hi all. The windshield gasket at the top where it meets the cab roof has fallen out. It’s not torn or anything, it’s just loose. Is this something that can be resealed just with silicone, or is there some trick I’m missing. I’m stumped why it came loose in the first place. Thanks

Usually that comes loose when something catches it and pulls on it. It's actually just a trim strip that goes around your window, it's not the actual seal (that is the heavy black goo stuff). It should be able to be just pressed back in place, but it takes a little finaggling to get it to 'pop' back in where it's supposed to go and stay.

If you have a local glass shop that replaces windshields, they can probably pop it back in for you pretty cheap. It's like 20 minutes of labor if they have to replace the WHOLE seal.

Happened to me a couple of years ago after Safelite replaced my windshield. Pushed it back in 4 separate times and finally had to have the windshield replaced again to fix it.

Never had THAT kind of bad luck with it, mine once popped off at the bottom when I was scraping frost off the windshield (oops). Waited til it warmed up above freezing, climbed up there and popped it back in place, had no issues after that.

Mine developed a short section about 3-4 inches long that was just pushed up. Local glass shop put some sealant/adhesive there, taped it down, told me to leave the tape (was either 12 or 24 hours). Didn't even charge me; only took about 5 minutes.

Hold on, so your telling me i can peel that strip off my windshield and not effect the goop holding it onto the truck!? Man this is gonna be great if so, now I can pull that off and inspect for my water leak

That's just a trim piece the windshield is held in with urethane sealant, a windshield shop can use a small amount to hold the trim piece in place.
