Original Steering Wheel and Column Color for F-100

Hi all. Is there anyway to find out what color the original steering wheel column came with a '69 F100? The column and wheel that's in my truck right now were both replaced at sometime. The color of the truck is a two toned Arcadian Blue and Wimbledon white. The color of the dash is blue and it came with a pastel parchment (tannish white) bench seat out of the factory. I'm wondering if the column and wheel were originally white? Thoughts? Appreciate the help

I 100% but am not sure that the column and wheels are actually a dark blue with a slight fleck on those color combinations. Although the dozens of examples could have all had the same column swap, I have seen this in pretty much every blue interior truck including both Arcadian and Harbor blue from 67 to at least 69. This was my conclusion while going through the same research you're doing in prep for repaining mine. Nothing else came in this color though so I had to get a good piece of trim to provide to a paint shop to mix some. These might have been different colors on different trims though. Let me know if you want more pictures.

Great info. Very much appreciated. There is a thread on here by NumbersDummy about the column and steering wheel colors. He wrote that the colors were determined by the seat color which makes sense. I think the blue like you mentioned is a real possibility. I haven't seen many F100's, F250's white white steering wheels. You never know. I've also never seen too many of these trucks with white bench seats either. Mystery for sure.

Yeah, it's just so strange that that is the only thing in the entire truck that is that color blue though. I have a smooth floor-shift style ring that I need to swap in that is original color here white-balanced to the piece of paper it's on. Some of the interiors might have come with color-matched dash pad or carpet that is more like this dark almost navy blue. That picture is pretty right-on though apart from some fading on the rebbery-plastic steering wheel more than what you'd see on the column.

Not sure if this helps...Page 4 in the '69 brochure shows a white wheel with a white bench seat. The other steering wheels and columns in these pictures seem to indicate them matching the seat colour as well

My 67 F100 Ranger has green wheel and column matching green seat, and it is all matching original I believe. My Marti report indicates green vinyl bench seat.

Awesome. Appreciate you sending the link. Looks I’ll be looking for a white steering wheel. :-)

Another question related to this post.....does anyone know the official shade of white Ford painted the steering wheels and columns? Wimbledon white? Corinthian white?

P51P28,
I am far from an expert on any of this, but your question got me curious. So, I checked out some sites for paint colours for Ford F100's in the 60's. What I found was, that it seems that Corinthian White was available until 63 then changed to Wimbledon White in 64. From then on, for a while there was Wimbledon White and Pure White. I know this doesn't answer your question (which white), but if these sites are correct it seems to clear up a question I had about the years for Corinthian White and Wimbledon White.

I have done so much research on whites in use especially on the 68-69 exterior trim. I never got to looking into the interior parts though if they used whites for specific trims or not. It seems like there was not a whole lot of consistancy on the interior even through the model years and depending on the assembly plant and availability of parts supplier to that plant--they weren't strict on it. I believe the only requirement is that the color of the column match the wheel. Lower trims like standard cab had less 'color' in the interior like dash pads and flooring were less color-coded than the customs or rangers.

The dash color will always match the cab exterior color since that is one-piece painted.

What is the exact body code on the door tag? C81 L81 381 or 33L1?

If it were me and I was keeping the parchment seat, I would definitely just repaint wimboledon white to match the 2-tone exterior and the creamy seat. Unless you absolutely 100% need it to match a Marti report or something then you'd have to ask a show judge what should be there--and they will probably say it can vary--again from what I have been told. Or go with the Arcadian. What color do you have right now?
