Porkchops and Applesauce

Been six years since Stay Puft’s loss

Others tried to fill its shoes,
Nothing compared, all failed to amuse.

Til one day, a random search was fruitful
@Toreador_Diesel inspected, his expertise was useful.

With his blessing, a purchase was made,
The Excursion addiction is impossible to evade.

blah blah blah

I’m back b****es :-jammin

Been a long weekend, so a Clifnotes:

2000 7.3, 2 owner rig, original owner basically fully restored the whole thing minus the paint. Heated seats still work, no squeaks and rattles, hatch lock tumbler works with the key fob, pristine rear view mirror, blah blah.

Also has a fully forged and built motor, studded main girdle and heads, which is good cuz the S467 and 250/200’s make this f**ker MOVE. Full BTS trans handles it easily.

More pics later, have legitimately spent 23 hours on the road this weekend.

Yessir, 2017.

It’s nice being back in an X again. Actually was looking at a 12v swapped one, but the dash gauge wiring was an absolute catastrophe, no idea what they had tried to do. Plus I know the 7.3, and this one is just a little peppy so it’ll suit the leadfoot requirements.

EXSwap 01-23-2023 09:29 AM

Well, you can't go wrong with a 7.3 that's been built.

Also, really dig the color!

Its beautiful. Are you going to need a step just to get into it? It looks a bit raised.

I like the go fast bits. Seller claimed a 4” Pro Comp, it doesn’t feel that low. Crappy dual MX-6’s up front, single rear. I need to research your threads specifically actually, I know that’s your realm. Don’t want to have you type the same thing for the 9-millionth time 😂

I saw your comments on a fairly recent thread with exact spring numbers and such, so I’ll most likely be duplicating your advice (including top plate with airbag tang).

It’s nice to be up in the air again, just sold my OBS Suburban on an 8/10 drop with notch’d rear. Was fun, but could get stuck on a speed bump

Welcome back Matt! :-wink
Nice looking wagon, it’s a shame you couldn’t find a V-10. }>

Looks and sounds like a sweet ride, good luck with it! :-X22 :-X06

Houston, I have a problem

Thanks for the "heads up", I am normally not a fan of green vehicles but dayum....

Looks like I will be making another trip to H-town. Maybe this time I can give a tad bit more notice.

I am very glad for you.:-jammin

Honestly, if future work plans that will involve the X come to fruition, I will need a diesel. Otherwise I would have been content snagging a spark plug 10-banger and throwing 4:30’s or :56’s into it. Just don’t think idling a gasser for 8-10 hours a day is the best option. Stay Puft saw a LOT of high idling hours. Way more frequent (admittedly more expensive) oil changes too.

I’m just glad to be back in one, especially with local drivers having gotten even more seemingly brain dead and selfish. The Klein horns have been beautiful in providing, erm,… subtle heads up.

post up some pics when you are ready and I’ll do what i can to help get it sorted out.

Also need to figure if it has steering issues or the PO just dorked out on the dual steering damper fashion.

Oh ya, speaking of fashion, dig the color }>

@pirate4x4_camo, uploading from my phone, so I have no idea how they’ll turn out.

Other than an adjustable trackbar and ditching the blocks… I’m open to suggestions good sir.

Steering is pretty damn good. No wander or play, zero obvious bumpsteer (although dual stabs help suppress that I’m sure). RedHead box, and I need to replace the lines as one is leaking and I now have an exceptionally clean spot on my driveway after the rain today 😂

Many thanks, outside of some mild cosmetic changes, I’m quite happy with it as is. Going to do my damnedest to keep this one rubber side down!
