1989 F250 Lift help/Axles/gear ratio

I have a 1989 F250 and would like to put either a 4 or 6 inch lift on it, which are the best lifts (skyjacker, superlift, etc.) What size tires am I going to be able to fit and on what size rim. Also what axles are in it, it has the 460 and C6 tranny, and whats the gear ratio
Thanks
Corey
P.S. if you know of any pictures of F250s with these lift I would like to see them

I have always liked the Skyjacker lifts because they ride real good. A 6" lift
will get you 38's on a 10" wide wheel. But they are stuffed. 36's will look
good. A 4" lift will put on 35's or 36's. Superlift is a real good lift also. As far
as your gear ratio goes, you probably have anywhere from a 3.55 to a 4.10.
If you don't have a 4.10 in it now, I would regear it to just that after you lift
your truck. It'll help on power and gas milage. If you decide to go with
Superlift, I would also get the prerunner steering system also to help out with
the front end. :-X22

I'm personally a fan of the Tuff Country lifts. The 4" lift on a F250 will fit the 35/36's with no problem (my 90 has 35"s with a 4" Tuff Country lift and a 429CJ), and still be low enuff to drive nice on the hi-way, also easier on the front driveshaft angles too, as for gearing, if its the 3.55s, unless you are going over a 36" tire, or looking to pull a large trailer, loaded down, etc, I wouldnt change them, as the 460 has more than enuff torque to handle 36" tires and 3.55 gears. Plus it will help some on the fuel mileage with the lower RPM at hiway speeds

Breeze, What did you have to do to get that 429CJ down in there? I am going
to put a 429 in my 91 soon. I could really use some help on that issue!
Thanks! :-hair

:-X09 Cursed, yelled, spent too much money, and cursed some more!!! LOL :-X09

Seriously, it took a little fab work and a dose of patience. I used L&L mounts so that was the easy part. The fun part was the tranny (I had to make a new cross member, as the C6 4wd tranny mount is roughly 4" further forward than the E4OD 4wd) and then play around with the fac wiring from the original 5.8 to plug in the oil press, and water temp. I used a 200Amp "one wire alternator" and a serpentine belt drive from March performance pulleys. Next was a change over to a Sanden 508 A/C compressor to match the brackets (stock one wont work) and make some new lines. A set of headers for a 83-87 (carbed) F250 4wd match perfectly, so there wasnt a problem there, but the intake (weiand Stealth) sits high enuff and far enuff back that I may have a clearance issue with the wiper motor, if thats the case, then I will have to use a Holley Hi Tek air cleaner. I also am using a Areo-Motive fuel pressure regulator w/ a bypass return to cut the factory fuel pressure down to a level the carb can live with. Which means modifying the factory plactic fuel lines on the frame to go into the regulator. For cooling, I changed to a diesel core support and radiator from a 94 diesel and added a set of Flex-a-lite monster fans (6000cfm air and only 28amp draw) They also make a set to fit the stock radiator in the 87-91 body style, but I had the core and radiator available, so I used it instead. Other little things include, tweaking the power steering hoses a bit, new a/c lines to match the Sanden, oil pan and pump/pickup from a 83-up 460 4wd, driveshaft modification (different lengths needed) make a bracket for the transfer case lever ( re-used the BW1356 transfer case) What else.... oh yeah, Lokar C6 Kickdown cable, made an adaptor to mount the throttle and cruise cable to the holley, and a few other things I cant think of now, but will post as they come to me. When I get a chance, maybe later this weekend, I will do a writeup on the motor and all the changes/tweaks involved and post it over in the Engine Swap forum, and update some pics in my gallery :-X22

Thanks for the run down Breeze! That really helps alot! I may be talking to you about this again when I get closer to doing the swap for some guidence. Do you have an email where I would be able to reach you? Thanks! Oo.
