Dodge Ram inluded on the '03 Lemon List!
 

Uh-oh...looks like the Ram made the '03 Lemon List, which is based on the number of NHTSA consumer compliants versus units sold:

Geez-I just noticed the Dakota is on there too!:eek: Nice to see there's no Ford or GM pickups on there but what's going on over there at Daimler-Chrysler?? :confused:

People who drive GMs must not own telephones. There are 4 Ford vehicles listed there...don't see the GMs in there much. I know better than that from experience. Something fishy here...hmmm....:rolleyes:

Those are for 2001 to present as well. There are millions of models sold everyday, so I think that a few thousand of them is not a major concern.

NHTSA claims they only rate vehilces that haven't changed since 2001 but I see several conflicts such as the Ram. It will be interesting to see if Ford can keep the all new F150 off that list.

Also, look at the numbers, the bottom half of the list is fairly tightly grouped. They must be getting close to the industry average.

I count five GM products in there-not any pickups though. Four Ford products not including the Escape (which is a shared-platform with Honda or Mazda I think), but again no pickups. Four Daimler-Chrysler products including 2 pickups !:rolleyes:

I wouldn't gloat too much, 4 out of the top 7 are Ford. The vehicles listed that high on the list have some legitimate issues. The others near the bottom of the list are likely within tenths of a percent from a large number of vehicles.

Ford hasn't changed it's truck in awhile, so hopefully all the issues are worked out (although it didn't stop the Dakota from making the list). It will be interesting to see how the new Ford trucks stack up.

That list does look a little fishy.

You guys keep saying that no Ford Trucks are up there. Isn't the Excursion consider a Ford Truck?? It is technically an SUV...but it is listed on this site, right?

How is this averaged? There are VERY few Prius vehicles, and a LOT more Exursions on the road. That doesn't seem like a fair comparison to me. Consumer Reports, and other magazines that give out reliability reporst are full of cr*p to say the least. JD Power is probably the worst of them all. I heard the Explorer was only "average" on reliability. Get your butt over here Consumer Reports, and try and pry my hands off my Explorer.

next, what do these numbers represent? the number of vehicles that were involved SUCESSFULLY in a L/L buy back program? just the number of complaints filed for under L/L?

if it is the former, i find it strange as well that the extremely low volume cars would be down the list, you would expect it to be a percentage of vehicles sold, not total number.... the audi a6 does not sell well at all! (i work at a toyota/audi/vw/chevy/caddy/saab dealer....and the honda civic??Profanity Removed?? now, i am no honda lover.....but gimme a break.

I can't explain why the Excursion is on there, but there might be a logical explanation for the Focus, Escape, and LS. The target market for all three of these is the younger market. Ford is trying to steal these buyers from the import market, and they are used to the Hondas and Toyotas that are "trouble free." That's just my thought.

Did anybody else happen to pick up on that? Everything on that list are pre '01 vehicles. They're not talking about the new Ram, if that's what you were implying. I'd be intrested to see it once it catches up a few years too, the Dakota has improved mechanically a bit since then.

i just dont see how the Focus got on that list. My brother has an 01 ZX3 Focus and its an awsome car. He and i both drive this thing hard, i can count the times we have run it right up to the motor shut off switch(110mph) and its been thrown around out on back roads(power slides and such) and it has only been in the shop for the 2recals(which is no big deal IMO). Thats about all i can speak for and that right there rasies a big BS flag to me.
