Diesel tank leak

After a drive I come home to diesel pooled up on my skid plate, seems to be both tanks and seems to be quite a lot of diesel considering my mileage dropped to around 6 mpg. It seems to be dripping from the top of the tank and seems to be happening on both tanks. I just got the tanks inspected and I'm thinking something they did when dropping the tanks messed things up. Any help?

Probably the fuel lines on the top of the tank, I’d bring it back to the shop and tell them to check if they tore a fuel line on top..

Senders pulled by shoppe?

If so, the orings need to be replaced. Happened to me when I replaced the pickup on the senders...and you should verify those are fresh as you will be dropping the tanks again.

Yes they inspected them but did not replace them.. The senders apparently looked good, dont believe they installed new orings. Debating taking it back there and getting it done for free or just doing it myself considering how long they usually take

Its not a very pleasant job at all unless you remove the bed then its really easy.

Need a pair of those. One of my senders had a different float than the other. I forget which, but one took a basic float that was about $7 for an old Ford car. Plus the aforementioned fuel sender orings. Once unsealed they shrink and never seem to seal, maybe your local auto store has them.

Concur with others that the fuel line O-rings and sender gaskets are the likely suspects. My tanks rusted through, but I didn't replace O-rings the first time, and had problems getting the sender gaskets to seat and seal. I got real good at dropping and lifting my tanks before I got everything sealed up. And if the senders are coming out, suggest having the shop replace the "shower head" pickups at the bottom of the pickup. They likely are brittle after 25 years immersed in diesel. On mine, I recollect that one broke while getting it off; the other came off intact but easily broke in my hand. Broken-off shower head seems to be a common cause of fuel starvation with 1/4 full tank.

Look into getting rid of the shower heads in the fuel sender, check the Super Duty section on a how too called Hutch/ Harpoon mods, or the SkySkiJason in tank mods (cheaper and better IMO) I'm sure they are similar to the OBS sending units.
