Are you ready to change your Lube yet?

I'm in Northern Michigan and the weather is changing. I generally schedule my fall oil change to be 5-40 vs 15-40 (Spring), as well as switch from red cap to black cap motor-craft DFA. Cold starts are much easier and I've never plugged in. This is a two time a year oil change so roughly only 8k between both. In the fall I do the entire fuel system (filters) as well as sample purge it every 1st of the month.

Not to be off subject. But My air filter looks good, but why not. I'll renew.

Just putting a bug in your ears.

I used to do that but I I just run the 15W40 now, only difference is I plug in every day, set on a timer. But at the end of the year I'm going into semi retirement and will be working (when I do) from home, and home is now permanently in the middle of the state so even wasting electricity for a warm engine will disappear. She might even go into winter retirement and get parked in the carport until the springtime.

I do the same thing during winter here in North Georgia mountains. I know it ain't Michigan cold.

I think you are doing fine with that schedule. I haven't had my 6.4 long enough to think about what oil I plan to use over the winter but in my 6.7 I just stay with 5W40 year round.

I run Rotella T6 5w40 in the summer and 0w40 in the winter. Done this since I had a 6.9 and have never plugged in a diesel ever. Location is Ottawa Ontario. back in the early 90's we'd very frequently hit minus 40. Not so much any more -35 is as cold as it get now. Yes fuel filters change in the fall. Nothing worse than doing it on the side of the road in a snow bank. Being in Michigan you should be running Rotella T6, blended in River Rouge plant, right in Michigan. Holly Frontier make the Ford oils. Not even a close 2nd to Rotella T. Use the Ford filters, lower micron filter and better beta factor of filtration. One thing I know about the OEM's they don't understand Lubes, they only understand cost. Rotella has million mile club....... nobody else does.

I've only run T-6. Totally agree with the blend mix.

Do you have to ski or snowshoe to your truck with frozen nuts? -30's> wholly ****??!!!
