need more power

I have a 1992 5.0 F-150 2 wheel drive with an automatic. I want more power! it goes pretty good and i would just put a supercharger or a better cam in there but it has 130,000 miles. i want to do a quick relatively easy engine swap and preferably change it to a manual transmision. what can I do?

You can do about anything as long as your budget allows. A cam, and probably a supercharger will not cooperate with the factory computer, so it's a good thing your going with a different engine. As far as speed goes, you might rebuild the 302, buy another rebuilt/crate, go with a Mass air computer, and then go with a supercharger. But at a minimum your looking at around $5000.

I would just update the truck as it is. Put in a chip, a good exhuast, filter, etc etc, and you can generate around 250hp pretty easy. The stock 302 had 195hp from the factory.

I am looking at one of crane's compucams. Summit offers it for somewhere over $100, but I think the chip would give more power!
