1995 F150 Front end creaking
 

When I turn the wheels or drive up my drive way there is this annoying creaking noise coming from under the front of the truck.I have torqued every bolt under there and even oiled any metal to metal contact points and still it creaks.Does anybody have a suggestion.

If you checked all the suspension and frame hardware for tightness, have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you inspect for the noise. You will more than likely find a loose frame or suspension fastening rivet. The one near and below the steering box was loose on mine (if I remember correctly it goes through 3 pieces of metal, the frame, the steering support/mounting bracket and the front crossmember). I drilled it out and replaced it with a 7/16" grade 8 bolt. No more creaking. Also, someone recently mentioned on one of these posts that the trasmission crossmember could cause a similar problem. I checked mine and there were 2 loose bolts on the passenger side.

I retorqued all the bolts on the trans mount and it still squeaked so I dropped the trans cross member and cleaned all the dirt and grit off of it and where it mounts to the frame applied a lite coating of grease to the clean mount points and the squeaks are gone hope it lasts.

I have had the trans mount come loose in the past. The truck would make a nasty creeking/crunching type noise when gassing down. Bumps too but not as nasty. The motor mounts were tight and still in good shape. Even the trans mount was in good shape. The bolts from the trans itself to the mount were what worked loose. Crazy. I tightened them up using new lock washers and locktite. No problems since. Jake.
