79 f100 brake pedal

Having issue with pedal height on 79 f100 , as the picture shows it does not come up high enough to make brake switch, I just replaced booster and it all seemed the same , of course I don't remember how it was before disassembling a few years back and don't think pedal was changed before but who knows, anyways is there something I could have done reassembling or is there adjustment to raise ?

Have you started it yet ? sometimes you need to let the vacuum pull things in place. if that doesn't do it you might have the wrong booster.

No haven't started , and cant pull it back enough by hand , the booster was an exact match as I compared before giving up core and it came from Napa lifetime warranty , it seemed original when I removed it but suppose it could have been swapped but still new booster was a perfect match , checked closely as I know they made several different boosters ,, maybe after getting vacuum in it will help but unsure,, but have to finish a few other things first ,,always an unwanted snag ,,

Should mention its 2wd

Provided everything was functioning correctly before you replaced anything, you shouldn't have any issues once you do swap boosters. Are you able to pull the pedal up any further by hand?

No the pedal will not pull up by hand, which is what bothers me,,the truck was driven by previous owner till spun bearings, so I have never driven it yet so unsure of any previous issues .

Gotcha. I've changed out a couple of boosters on my rigs (77 F100, 78 Bronco) and none of them had any issues with pedal travel after the boosters were replaced.

I upgraded my F100 from manual brakes to power brakes and when I did that I had to swap pedal assemblies as manual and power brake pedals are different. If you don't swap them and leave a manual pedal with a power brake setup then your pedal will sit very close to the floor. Maybe the PO did that to your truck?

Unsure ,,but truck came with power brakes from what I have deciphered , its a 79 and unsure if any 79 came with manual brakes or not , as all 79 models were disk brakes to my knowledge , of course my knowledge is limited , I have owned several 79 models, all were power brakes an steering

My 77 came with front discs and was manual brakes, but again, it's not a 79. Maybe by 79 everything had power brakes.

1973/79 F100 2WD: Manual disc brakes were standard equipment, power disc brakes were optional.

Power disc brake pedal is different than manual disc brake pedal, and there is more than one, especially if it has Speed Control.

Look on the brake pedal, there should be a Ford ID engineering number stamped on it (similar to this: D7TA-2455-LA), post what it is.

1979 F100 2WD: A/T or MT? With or without Speed Control? What are the last 6 digits of the VIN?

1973/79 F100/350: There are TWENTY TWO different brake pedals, NINETEEN different master cylinders, SEVENTEEN different boosters, SEVEN different clutch pedals, I kid you not!

The booster must match the brake pedal, otherwise...

Yeah I got that as well ,

I'm sure numberdummy will point you in the right direction for finding a power brake pedal assembly. I wonder if it'd be easier to find a pedal assembly and then get a new brake booster/master cylinder that matches the pedal rather than finding a specific pedal for what you already have.
