Here is an article to help understand the levels of autonomous driving. Even a comment from Ford.
https://www.techrepublic.com/article...e-differences/

My interpretation is that the SD isn't a full Level 2 yet. Once they add lane keeping along with the lane keeping assist with the ACC that would make it a full Level 2, I believe.

Cannot imagine taking my SD into a roundabout with the ACC.....

Owners rated Ford with 1 of the best ACC systems, according to the August 2019 Consumers Report. All other brands listed were luxury makes........Cadillac, Genesis, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Tesla, and Volvo.

Almost always my primary use for ACC is interstate driving especially WITH lots of traffic. I find it makes the long trips feel shorter as it seems to take the grind or white knuckle out of those trips. Occasionally I may use it on a longer highways where speeds are at least 55. Below that it’s just not applicable for me. But I’m very happy to have that option.

Great post TeddyD. Too many salesmen don't know enough about these systems and explain it to owners and then there are just too many owners who don't read their owners manuals. All the complaints were outlined in the owners manual description. The system operates as designed.

ACC is my favorite feature in my truck. On long drives pulling the camper it sure makes the drive less tedious. I can focus on other aspects of driving (checking tire pressures, lane position, etc) while it keeps track of my speed and spacing. Sure, it comes up wrong in certain situations, but I've learned when that is going to happen and I either turn it off beforehand or I cover the brake just in case. It is very rare that it is wrong.

Put me in the camp who really appreciates ACC when it's appropriate. It is meant for cruising on the relatively open highway. When I come up to a slower vehicle, I just check my mirrors for an opportunity to change lanes and the truck takes care of the rest. No fiddling with acceleration and deceleration buttons. I feel like it frees me up to focus more on surrounding vehicles and conditions.

It's an awesome feature when used in the proper conditions.

^^ what he said. Long freeway trips where I can chill in my lane and go with the flow. Best feature ever.

I got used to adaptive cruise in my Accord that I use for my weekly work commutes and it was irritating me not having it when pulling my boat with my Tundra on the weekends. It's one of the main reasons I wanted to change trucks. I knew with the power of the 6.7 that it could handle the speed ups and slowdowns while towing when using adaptive cruise. If you tried to tow with adaptive cruise in my Tundra it would have been dropping into 3rd gear constantly if it ever let off speed going up a hill. With the 6.7 I have never come out of 6th gear on the highway. I'm blown away with how well it works.

Exactly. Even the Tesla turns off its autonomous driving at times, similar situations to described above.

The more people buy these kind of options the more advanced they will get.
