Partially broken map sensor

Hey guys, I was putting a new clamp on my passengers side intercooler boot, and unplugged the map sensor to get more room. When I went to plug it in, it snapped in no problem, but the little red plastic piece would no slide up and lock. Long story short, I broke that red piece that slides off, and am wondering if I need to invest in a new sensor. The sensor still clicks when I slide it in, but that red piece was like a secondary lock kinda thing. Will I be ok without it, or do I need to get a new sensor?

This is what the sensor currently looks like

I would run it if it clicks and locks in place.

The red clips are available from Ford. They are listed in the motorcraft connector catalog by pin count.

Yeah I just took it for a drive, and the sensor is still tight in place. I'm probably gonna let it ride for a while like it is since it still locks in place. However, is a Ford dealership the only place I can get the red clip? Or does an online vendor sell them?

It's a 'backup' lock used on some parts that are deemed more important. I wouldn't even bother with a replacement, but you can buy them and it's not part of the sensor.

Coupla zip ties for peace of mind. Not serious enough for duct tape or deck screws.

Yeah for now I'm probably gonna let it ride like it is. I do keep a couple of zip ties in the glove compartment, so if it does come loose, I can secure it with those.
