2008 Expy Red headed step-c
I had a 4th cylinder miss. I thought for sure I was going to end up replacing the cam phasers because it also had been ticking. I was cruising the forums and saw a video link to a guy taking the connector off of the 4th cylinder coil pack and it was corroded. I gave mine a look and not only was it corroded but the connector plastic tab had broken. So I clean the terminal and put a dot of super glue on the plastic to hold long enough to get to work and parts. I swap out the plastic connector housing but use the original wires so I do not have to splice the harness. While putting it all back together I find my coolant leak. Apparently the heater hose about 3" before the firewall had a loose clamp. I tighten it up and leak is gone. I had back surgery 3wks ago and was on narcotics when I bought this truck. ,😆😆😆
I have never owned a Ford. So it is a learning curve for me. Currently I am fighting sticking calipers. Started off with the right one then the left now both front drag. I replaced the front brake lines with SS brake lines from Goodridge. I sucked out all the old brake fluid and put new Dot 4 in. Made sure and bled them. Still drags. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Tom |
You cleaned and lubed anything that slides, right?

I was going to tear the caliper apart yesterday but Ford had the clever idea of making it a 9mm Allen wrench bolt. No one readily owns this! 😆 I picked one up today. Lowe's doesn't even carry a 9mm Allen wrench. I also ordered a caliper rebuild kit.
Any advice before I hate myself more tomorrow? 😂🤣😭 Much appreciated! |
If you didn't grease the slide pins before reinstalling, I'd start there, rather than go to the extreme of rebuilding the caliper.

I managed to obtain a 9mm Allen wrench. O was going to tear into it this morning but forgot about a doctor's appointment. Too hot in AZ to do it now. ,,😆

Rebuilt the driver's side caliper. Found the caliper pistons on the passenger side broken. I ended up buy a new caliper for the passenger side. Everything is put back together. I will bed the brakes later today. Too damn hot!

Where did you get the ss goodridge hoses from and do you a part number for the kit? I am having trouble finding them, seems like no one makes ss hoses for 07 up expeditions.
