Roadmaster Active suspension vs Big wig sway bar
I have a 2018 F-350 CC LB SRW 4x4 diesel. I get some unwanted sway with my Artic Fox 990 but I use this truck for a lot of different things. Let’s start with the uses with the truck camper. When on road we sometimes tow a 3000 lb trailer full of jet skis. When towing with the camper I’m running a 40” trailer hitch extension bar from the truck hitch to the jet ski trailer. Other times we travel to off road destinations where 4wd is mandatory and the roads are bouncy and uneven from side to side causing bounce and sway. In these conditions I’m assuming a sway bar might cause further rocking because of the uneven terrain. When not in slide in camper mode I’m in full blown work mode with a 2000 lb Fleetwest Load n Go truck body with ladder racks and a 10,000 lb enclosed trailer in tow. With all these different uses I’m wondering if the RoadMaster Active suspension might be a better application than a sway bar. I’m sure the sway bar would be second to none for on road cornering and sway but not too sure if it might be a detriment in some of the other situations like off road driving/camping. I’m hoping to get my best advice here since no one here is actually selling me anything. Thanks!

I suspect this question, when first posted on another site, received few responses as no one has any real world experience to address this comparison. I agree with the preceding comment regarding lack of sway control with the RoadMaster as that does not appear to be its intended purpose. If it is something you want to try, you could always up the sway control later. To date I do not think the RoadMaster Active suspension is a big player in the after-market, but that is just my impression. I do think it is hard to find a single truck that serves equally well in all conditions.

When I had my AF990, the best sway control came from adding extended overload bump stops like what TorkLift or Super Springs offer, and Rancho 9000 shocks. Getting the upper overloads into play sooner really helps.
