What oil in Transfer Case ???
 

I just saw a video that was warning against using Mercon V in the transfer case ~ what's the story ~ is that BS or ???

What about using it in the Tranny ???

It's true. What year truck and what transmission ?
Ford now says Mercon LV is good for transfer cases. Transmission depends on which one you have.

XL12 is no longer made. Ford says to use Mercon LV instead. Not sure if that applies to your transfer case. I know it does on the transfer cases mated to the 5r110 and 6r140

What about Valvoline Transfer case fluid ~ can that be used in F150 2001 ???

Ask Valvoline, it's their product.

Valvoline says it meets Motorcraft specks ~ is it being use by F 150 owners ```

Undoubtedly since that's what they'd put into the unit at the Valvoline Instant Oil change locations.

If Valvoline says it meets the requirements, then why are you questioning them?

For one; which motorcraft specs ?

Currently, according to their (PDS) = Product Data Sheet, seems to depend on the year & case/type/design. As noted in their respective PDS, XL-12 Transfer Case Fluid, for use in transfer cases made before 2012, Mercon LV PDS says can be used in all transfer cases, so currently if the vehicle was made after 2011, according to the PDS you only have one choice, Mercon LV. If the transfer case was made 2011 or before, seems you currently have Two choices XL-12, or Mercon LV.

I'd stick with the motorcraft stuff.
