Oil filter adapter gasket change

I have looked a bit on the forum for a how to link on the oil filter adapter gasket on gas motors.

I have a V 10 with a leaky one and could use a few pointers on best way to remove that motor mount and lift and support the motor while doing the job.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Don't know anything about the gasket itself, but for getting the motor mount out, use a bottle jack with a block of wood on top of it and jack your motor from the oil pan just enough to put some upward pressure on it. Try to do that in front of and behind the crossmember so you have pressure on both ends of the oil pan if you can. From there, you'll have to loosen and remove the motor mount. I'd recommend removing as many parts in the area as possible to make it as accessible as possible. Also, place locking under the motor once you have it raised a bit in case your jack fails or seeps. You don't want that thing falling on your hand (or head). Fairly straightforward if you take your time and be methodical.

THanks

I didn’t know the oil pan had enough integrity to lift from. maybe near the curved end parts would be best. Thanks for the tip

It should unless it's all rusted up. Use a block of wood on top of the jack across the width and you'll be fine. I generally use a 1x6 or something like that.

I wouldn't lift on the oil pan, I would lift from above with an engine crane. This will also leave more room to work below. You should be able to unbolt the power steering pump to make room to work without needing to take off the hoses. But then it may be a good time to do a power steering fluid exchange. Also while you are in there, you might want to check on the oil dipstick tube. It is easy to reach with the oil filter adapter out of the way.
Search my posts for several pictures of the oil filter adapter and multiple threads of other people who have changed that gasket.
