6.4l EGR Delete
Started my EGR delete and I have only one problem, the vertical cooler block off plug didn't go in so well. the housing that the plug sits in cracked, actually a chunk of it broke right off. so my question is has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it? also will that plug fit on the thermostat housing where the elbow goes? Other than that the coolers came right out and everything else went smooth. This picture is not mine, just using it as a reference for the parts in question, the part circled is the elbow I am referring to.

Update, I called a local diesel shop and the said I would need a new front cover, quoted me like $1500-$2000. Well after looking around online and on my truck I decided to pop that elbow off. Now I broke it in the process but that's ok it was broke anyway. The elbow is the same size as the plug, so in its place I put the plug in. I just did some driving around and it works just fine, it was a little harder to get in as there is less room for your hands, but all in all, it saved time and money. for those out there doing EGR deletes be aware that the elbow is weak and brittle, It did not take much force to break that thing, but this is a possible solution.

Good point you make there, man. I have different times if I had a 6.4L engine out and was removing the coolers, also removed the little elbow. It’s one of those things that doesn’t really make a difference, but it’s a little detail. It hides the plug better. And in your case it’s a huge benefit.
