Thoughts going from 02 7.3 to 6.2 dually 4.30 gears

I know I would not dare post this in the 7.3 section!! Lol but I'm really considering going to the gas side I researched enough to find out a 6.2 with 4:30 gears dually is more than capable of towing my camper and pay load ...
i just hope if I do it's the right decision with no regrets ..
currently I have a 7.3 crew lariat 145 on clock but starting to knickle and dime me I guess due to age biggest issue replacing oil pan , door well rust , up pipes etc
So I found a nice 12 f350 dually super cab 6.2 w/. 4.30 tow package with 80k miles XLT for asking $22,000
really clean good car fax all work done a dealer every 3k miles for oil change and brakes every year .
wife is pushing me to do this due her hate of the fumes and noise my 7.3 makes and needing to warm up in colder months ... thanks in advance on thoughts

How heavy is the trailer? The 6.2 with 4.30s will probably tow it just fine but keep in mind a gas engine needs higer rpms and will use more fuel towing the same load. When climbing a hill don't be afraid to let the engine run at 5-6K they are designed to do that.

camper is 9000 loaded bumper pull and atvs on bed so payload approx 2000 including water and fuel .. yea I’m reading the 6.2 like high rpms with no problems

The truck you are looking at will do anything your “older” truck will do and probably more. As stated be prepared for more shifts and higher rpm. This is not a bad thing as it used to be bc the newer trans don’t heat up or wear with extra shifting imho. You can prevent the hard downshifts and rapid reving by staying off cruise and preparing for hills ahead of time by downshifting yourself and keeping it in a lower gear. My TT is 9000lbs and I have no pblms staying in 4&5 with occ 3s. Towing mileage usually in the 8’s, day to day 12-14(max of 16’s), lifetime combined is 12.7....good luck

With the 4.30 gears and having the smaller tires the duallys run. You wont see 5-6k rpm very often unless you're into it really heavy. It will pull that load up most big hills around 4k rpm ot maybe lower. A user on here called Rvpuller uses pretty much the same truck you are speaking of to pull a 15k 5er all around. 9k tt and some fourwheelers. Psshht. No problem. I pull a 10k 38 ft. TT with mine. 4.30 gears and it has no problem. I have a f150 with 4 30 gears and the taller 275/70/18 tires.

Thanks for responses I trying to make time to go look at it this week.. nothing really bad to say about my 7.3 but it's showing age biggest problem little rust and little slow but didn't get it to be a race truck major concern is reliability!!!!! I know 7.3 go to 500k miles but everything else not so much .. what are these 6.2 lasting so far since there debut in 2011 ??

A guy on here flatbed Ed had 418000 miles before major engine issues. Then he replaced the motor.

my 2012 F 250.... SCLB..... 6.2L Gas 167,000 miles....

I carry 1,500 pounds in bed of truck and Tow a 32 foot 9,000 travel trailer..
1,800 miles in 4 days several times a year.. for 4 years...
total rolling weight of 18,000 pounds... CAT scales....
no dually... just a little F 250. Gas.. does just fine.. NO 4x4... doing it with 3.73 gears and stock size wheels....

and this setup is LEGAL.... Tow and Camper package...

what you are asking a dually is EASY...

I know diesel guys hate RPM's the 6.2L overhead camshaft is designed to SPIN... so let it... 5k easy all day if needed up the mountains.

read my screen name..
when I needed a real work truck.. I got a Ford Super Duty... YES my first Ford Truck... 4 years and still happy with it.

’16 or older gasser has same auto as diesel albeit diff tc and computer. A nice overkill to have imho.

I did not just do internet.. search.. I went to the fleet truck managers .. that were customers to my employer... ask them ...

If you YouTube "6.2 f250 4.88 towing", you will find a few of my videos, a couple towing 10k. My tire/gear combo will be very equivalent to a 4.30 dually. You want be disappointed.
