What size rancho shocks?
 

I have a 2001 f350 4wd the specs on shocks that are currently on the truck are located at http://gabriel.com/mobile/light-vehicle/detailed-product-page?partnum=77809 for the front and http://gabriel.com/mobile/light-vehicle/detailed-product-page?partnum=77810 for the back. I am wanting the Rancho rs9000xl series but unsure which one would be better since I cant find one to the exact specs of the one that are on the truck. I guess my main question is is it better to go a little longer or a little shorter then the shocks that are on it now.

I have Rancho's , Don't plan on holding onto any beverage at any speed, trail, highway regardless of settings. Who wants to get under a truck and turn a knob because you turn right? . Look in to Bilstiens.

I have the same problem with matching the specs to the also bilstiens I am kinda looking at both. Would it be better to go a little bigger or a little smaller?

I'm running the 9000XLs. I run the fronts all the way up cause the engine weight is always there, when i run heavy i turn up the rears, otherwise midpoint is nice in the rears. Can't comment on the Blistiens since i never run that brand. The XLs have a much larger than stock diameter. Im able to eat, drink, even pick my nose while driving, my wife usually surfs the net on phone, kids play tablets, its not some bucking bronco like was mentioned.

I threw a 2 year old set of rancho 9K adjustable shocks in the trash. HORRIBLE. Bilstein much better.

I bought Bilstein 3 years ago, not one regret about the purchase or install. Towing heavy, driving around unloaded, whatever. I have the 4600 series.

Which Bilstein would you recommend getting based on the old shocks?

4600 series are designed for stock height and the 5100 are designed for lifted trucks. I recall there being a couple different travel lengths for the 5100 series, but cannot be sure.

I went with 5100 Bilsteins on my stock 4x4 and very glad I did. My truck is used for Elk hunting, hauling a 5th wheel and driving to the store. These shocks handle all those situations very well.

Oh, I bought them on amazon $140 for 4 of them.

I ran the 5000 series when I was in great shape. That was a few years ago. I can't squeeze my legs like I used to. I kicked to the 9000 series. Yep, they're great, til you have to get out and babysit. Check out the Bils. You'll be shocked!!!!

Ok I am pretty sure my truck is stock hight so you are saying 4600 is the ones I should get. I have not bought shocks before so all the different measurements are confusing to me.

I had Rancho 9000 adjustables on the F350, and have run KYB Monomax on my 3/4 ton suburban. The KYB did not have the control I wanted when towing the travel trailer, but were great empty or with a load of people. The Ranchos did a fine job on the truck loaded or unloaded. Granted, different rigs here. Bilsteins were on the short list at the time, but I didn't pull the trigger. I'm betting you'll do fine with them.

Just put a set of KYB’s on the truck. Made a noticeable improvement. Haven’t towed with them yet. Still working through a fuel leak.

Check 4wheel parts warehouse for shocks when looking lots of times they have buy 3 get 1 free.

I went with the Rancho RS9000XLs and was very happy with them.

Nothing against Bilstein and KYB, especially since I've not run either of those on the 250. Once I used the Ranchos, though, I was happy and never tried anything else.
