Recommendations for aftermarket exhaust system

The OE muffler on my 2010 5.4 is starting to fail so I am looking for recommendations on aftermarket systems that will not break the bank. I want to stay with stainless steel seeing that I am in upstate NY and they just love to use salt on the roads in the winter. I am leaning towards a single out but a dual setup is a possibility and prefer it to be close to stock sound level or just a bit louder.

Here is what I am considering:
Flowmaster system https://www.holley.com/products/exha...s/parts/817509
Magnaflow system https://www.magnaflow.com/products/1...s?aces=5918363

Also live in the rust belt, had a flowmaster setup on my '96 f-150 and was not thrilled with how it held up. My '13 had a Borla S-type and still looked great even after 5 years of New England winters. The downside to Borla (as I'm sure you know) is the price. They are spendy. I just can't suggest flowmaster personally. Maybe they've improve the grade of stainless since my install....

I know sound is subjective, but I found the S-type a good blend of "not bothering the neighbors" at low RPMs and plenty of noise at higher RPMs

You are right Robb, the Borla stuff is spendy. Your comments are what I am looking for because I have heard good and bad things about Flowmaster.

I am not too thrilled to just replace the muffler because on my 2001, the OE intermediate pipe cracked just after the flare that connected to the converter around 120K ish miles and I am at 113K now.

You might want to look at MBRP, about half of Borla's price for a S-type. MBRP

While not aftermarket, and not necessarily readily available ... You may want to consider a take-off exhaust system from a gen'1 (2010-2014) Raptor. *Would be plug-and-play.

*In your case, the front pipe|resonator would match-up seamlessly to the catalytic converter and no reducer would be needed.

Very good suggestion

I went with adding an electric exhaust dump. Love it.

But the raptor take off is a great idea.

Now the cut off would be a bit too loud....lol.

but it has a switch which routes it to a dump (which sounds great) or through an OEM-like quiet muffler.

Love it.

My preferred Gas engine Exhaust Co. is BORLA & Magnaflow coming in 2nd.
My preferred Diesel engine Exhaust Co. is MBRP (hands down).

If you're looking for a system on a strict budget, but wanting Stainless.... LEGATO *

* Yes its Stainless, but a lower grade & the muffler is not. Legato is very inexpensive comparatively & it sounds GREAT (aggressive).
However, my 1st muffler lasted appx 1 year & something inside started rattling. They have a lifetime Warranty so sent me another. Appx a year later, you guessed it, muffler began rattling again under hard acceleration. IDK what was going on there for me, just lucky I guess....LOL

Warren, that is good information on the Legato. I know that you previously mentioned that it was LOUD and I think that it is going to be too loud for my preference. I did not realize that the mufflers were not stainless with their system and that you had issues with them rattling.

I'm hooked on my Borla touring exhaust, it's the quietest cat back they have. At idle and cruising you barely hear it. But you'll hear it when ya get after it. Borla does sell just mufflers.

I had a Dynaflow muffler on a Silverado with a 5.3 and it was pretty quite unless you're in it.
