No fuel pressure
I got a new-to-me truck, a '88 f-250 460 v8. It was running kinda rough when i got it. I have since replaced the clutch, i started it again and read the DTCs. It told me it had a faulty PIP sensor. I cleared the codes the started it again. I first it ran super rough but after about a minute the idle smoothed out better than before. I took it out for a drive, i got down the road about 3 miles then the motor just died and would not start again. Now when it cranks it fires like 3-4 times then goes back to cranking. I checked the fuel pressure and its at completely nothing. The gauge did not move at all when i turned the key to run. I can hear the pump prime but the pressure remains at 0. When i took the tester off the fuel rail a little fuel leaked out, and i tested the tester with air pressure so i really do have 0psi. Switching tanks makes no change. My thoughts is it could be the tank switch over valve or the frame rail mounted fuel pump. What are your guys thoughts?

Confirm you have power at the frame rail pump and if the pump runs.

You should have posted the update in your other thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...uel-issue.html

Sorry, forgot about that one.

Just checked for power at the fuel pumps and i do have power. I also used the jumper wire in the obd1 port to manually turn the pumps on and i can hear all three running. Still have no pressure on my gauge but there was fuel gushing out of the connector when i took my gauge off the fuel rail.

You most likely have a bad fuel pressure gauge or the adapter is not pushing down enough on the schrader valve in the test port.
|
That was my initial thought. I have tested this gauge on a bike tire and the gauge does work. And it spits fuel initially while I'm screwing the adapter on to the fuel rail.

Well i attempted to remove the tank selector valve and in the process snapped one of the ports on the housing so it looks like I'm replacing it. I was going to open it up and see if the valve was stuck in the middle, i think that would explain why i had no fuel. I'm also replacing the fuel filter after the frame rail pump when i get my new selector valve.

my lack of fuel pressure was bad regulator
|
Is there a way to test the regulator now that the engine does not start?
|
I just replaced the fuel switch over valve and it has 35-40 psi of fuel pressure, still no fire.
