Where to get quality door panels 77 F250
I am "restoring" my 77 F250 CS and want to replace the OEM door panels that are molded in tan. I checked with LMC and DC but they did not have anything that was molded in the OEM colors-you had to buy blanks and prime and paint them. 1) Is there a dealer that sells OEM quality color molded panels (along with unicorns and gumdrop fountains) 2) If not, then who sells the best OEM quality panels that I have to prime and paint? 3) If I have to go that route, who sells the best primer and paint to be as close to OEM quality as possible? I know I am asking alot of a 40+year supply system but..... Any help is always appreciated. Jack

I just got off the phone with DC and was told that their first run color molded panels were in production and would be out "shortly". I ask what colors and he said very proudly, "Black, blue, and maybe red." I said no OEM tan? He said no. So it seems the final answer at least at DC is buy either firsts or seconds and prime and paint to taste. Crap.

Think of it as easier than to paint your truck to match the panels!

It's not that bad. get some SEM brand color coat vinyl paint in the color you want . it's simple and fast and works great . the trick is to get everything warm and apply Iight coats. don't flood it on or you won't like the results.
It's obviously not as durable as molded color but a lot of plastic even in new vehicles is black with color spray. I've used SEM for years and it's always held up well. |
I just ordered a pair from bronco graveyard, I'll post pics when they arrive. suppose to be nice

Here is my experience with Coverlay panels. I don't recommend them if you are after good quality. I would agree with the others about painting the door panels.
