Air test shows leakage under cooler cover?

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...b9e984f6f4.jpgHello looking for some help. I have pressurized my 2005 Ford f350 with 120 psi shop air through IPC port and I am hearing and feeling air coming from right side of block where oil cooler cover mounts to.

Air pressure does not hold. Drops to 0 in about 5mins. So there is a leak somewhere. I have attached a picture to try and show where I hear (this is one area) and feel the air leak. It is the middle(larger) hole in between the two smaller screw holes.

Is it normal to have air coming through this hole while air pressure testing the system? I think this is an oil galley that goes to the check valve inside the oil filter housing?https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...39e4a64801.jpg

Sounds like it might be the HPOP. Can you hear air or gurgling from the oil filter housing w/ the filter removed?

Do you have the IPR activated with a scan tool OR 12v while pressurizing? If not, it needs to be.

Yes I could hear air coming from oil filter housing when oil filter was removed but no gurgling. The air is coming from the hole that allows oil to be drained back to the oil pan once filter is removed.

So I am having a hard time understanding why I am hearing air coming from the hole if it's a oil drainage hole. I looked up some drawings and it doesn't make sense to me but maybe I am missing something?

If it's just a drainage hole is it still connected to HPOP somehow?

My understanding of the system is that the HPOP pulls oil out from it's reservoir from around oil cooler and then pumps it to oil injector rails. Is there an oil return passageway for injector rails that is linked to the hole that I am hearing air come out of? If so that would make sense because when I pressurerize the system it would leak into the return passageway way somehow but so far I have not seen or read anything that shows that is how the system works.

I wouldn't think you would hear it from the drain hole, but the filtered oil goes out of the filter base through a drain at the bottom of the oil filter standpipe. That is probably where you hear it. The filtered oil then flows to the engine lubrication points and to the HPO system from there.
