Fed up with computer in my truck
Right now I have a 90 F250 and so tired of chasing CEL stuff. I have a friend that has a 68 F100 that I am thinking of fixing and driving. Hate to give up on the 90 as just got done rebuilding the motor 10000 miles ago but dang thing just will not idle right among other things.
This is the truck I am replacing the 90 with probably a lot of people will call me insane, the only thing I probably will add living in Texas is AC. Not scared of rebuilding another motor or body work either, have not determined if it is a 360 or 390. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...9ef6b665a3.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...7c30f3b01d.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...ce406f031b.jpg |
Looks like a neat project. Good luck. |
looks like a good project truck , but you are trading a few problems for a lot of problems IMHO .

If you really like the '90, you can probably convert it to non-computer. Engines of that time period will have a version with a plain old fashioned carburetor and distributor (for example, 300 I-6, 351, 460). Shouldn't take major surgery to swap parts or entire engine. Plenty of aftermarket support for these engines.

Yeah that is an option the only problem is the 90 has an E4OD in it so would have to buy a controller for it. Good idea though.. It is a 351w in the 90. |

have a link to troubleshooting thread on the 90? EEC IV systems are pretty easy to pinpoint with a paperclip, led test light and multi meter.

Not saying don't do it, but I bet fixing your 90 would be a lot easier and cheaper in the end. |
