That's about the size of it. In the quest to be bigger and better, new light duty pickup trucks are so close to their class weight limit that my 2002 actually looks more capable on paper. Not to mention the bed of my 2002 is lower making it easier to load cargo and hitch a gooseneck or fiver. We've had our 5 ton fiver over much of the US and not felt wanting for power. So I don't get the new trucks sitting higher, having obscene power, and too heavy to be useful in their weight class. Less than 2000 lb payload in a 3/4 ton pickup weighing 8000+ lbs and 900+ lb ft of torque is absurd. |

So true (except I Iove power), my ram weighed 8350 with fuel and myself. Left 1650 pounds of legal payload. But it was sprong very stiff, you could put a whole 60 bag skid of sand blasting sand I the back and it hardly squatted. Once I slide in 55 bags of concrete and it only dropped 4"

My 2011 F250 CrewCab, 4x4 Diesel, XLT, had a whopping 2148 lbs of payload. The Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum will have even less because they have more equipment on them.

Finally got to drive the pickup today on I75 without the trailer on and it has a bit of that loose feeling on the road. Really thinking it is tire related.

Are the tires running at the recommended pressures (as noted on the door jam sticker) or are you winging that?

If the pressure is correct (as you say) then I'd suspect the roadway itself. Oftentimes heavy trucks create tracks (generally in the slow lane) that may lead others to feel loose. Try another stretch of highway.

Possibly bad suspension components? Something is loose? Maybe the alignment is way off?
My F-350 with an 11K bumper pull travel trailer doesn't wander. I do get a slight buffeting when someone passes me. That's not uncommon for a travel trailer. Rare for a 5th wheel. |

Wotf8, while I cannot perhaps offer any good feedback here as to what might be causing this problem, I can say that adding a rear sway bar is not that expensive and in my case it made a noticeable difference in how my truck feels on the road. I went with the stock Ford unit and could not be happier, this might be worth doing in your case as it certainly will not hurt anything here.

Wotf8, a little off subject but how do you like the 6.7 compared to what I assume was a Cummins in your other truck?
