Question About Tires

It's time to purchase some tires and I'm considering some Falkens. Specifically, the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W All-Terrain Tire. Without making any mods, purchasing new rims or doing the "let's put them on and see" thing, I'm looking for ideas about the biggest that will fit my 2013 F-150 STX that takes the 265/60R18 without any mods. As far as I know the rims are the stock models. Thanks. Rich.

So you want to put a 16inch tire on a 18inch wheel? Not happening.

probably ought to check my copy and paste skills huh...lol...

have read about guys putting 285s on and no problems... when you get to 305 width, you start worrying about tire contacting the frame / fenders/ ect when full turning.

+1

275/65 is the OEM size for 18" wheels on my 2010 Lariat so I would think 285's would have no issues on an OEM 18" wheel. 10mm is .40", so that is only .20" extra width on each side of the wheel rim.
Unless you are doing serious offroading, you may not gain anything going wider than that. In my experience off pavement, tire pressure will have a bigger impact on tire performance than tire size.

I did 295/55/r20 on my 4wd f150 limited stock.

I have a 2011 F150 and recently went from 275/55R20 to 275/60R20 on stock rims and no problems. And I got those Falkens
you mentioned. So far I like them and no road noise.

Just FYI, the bigger the tire, means less gas mileage, If that's important to you. But I didn't buy my truck to get gas mileage either.-lol

thanks for the information guys...I'm looking at whichever good name brand quality I can find at the best price along the lines of a 265 or 275 at the 65 to 75 aspect ratio and the 18" rim...all depends on when I decide to pull the trigger and spend the money...so far the Falkens look good as do a couple of others but...time will tell...

The last set I used were Hankook Roadhandler H/T. Avoid them. Fine the first half of life then they become hard and slippery in the wet.

In a few months I'll be back in a set of Michelin LTX AT2. I had considered the BFG KO2 but that's just too much meat on the road for my needs.

Hankook was a brand I was considering but...based on your information, likely not as this point. Thanks.

Hankook Dynapro HT's came on my 2011 truck. They wore great, rode great but had zero traction. The Dynapro At looks pretty good and comes in at a great price point but only carries a 50K mile tread wear warranty. If they wear as well as the HT's did, they would be very good.

I"m running 275/60R20 Falken Wildpeak A/T3W on my 2wd 2011 Supercrew with no problems. I even have a 2" drop in the rear to level out my truck. This is the third truck I have put Falken Wildpeak A/T3W's on. Great tire! Not noise at all. I've prefer them over the BFG A/T's I had on it. WalMart on-line has the best price on tires.

True! I shop there all the time, then take the printout to a tire shop I trust and he matches the price no questions asked.
