Press-on pulley
I'm changing to a Saginaw p/s pump, and lo and behold, my old pulley won't press on the shaft. The new shaft is .750". I'm wondering what diameter the hole on the new pulley needs to be to be pressed on that shaft? Does anyone know?

If you got snow where you're at try packing the shaft with snow and heat up the pulley with a torch or in the oven. Or if it's all apart you can stick the whole pump in the freezer to get the shaft cold (wife LOVES when I do stuff like that hahaha)

1975 and later Econolines and 1972/79 Passenger Cars with the Saginaw P/S pump (with Hydro-Boost) use a different P/S pump pulley than the pulleys used with the Ford/Thompson (1967/77) and Ford C-II (1978 and later) pumps.

Dorman probably makes one if you can't find one.

Not sure the dimension, but this is the pulley we use for that pump: https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/produc...eering_Pulleys
We have run across two different size shafts on the Saginaw/Delphi pumps, but sounds like you have the more common one. Paul |
Borgeson part number for this application, the .750" shaft is 801105

Does this same pulley also have a serpentine variant?
What I'm asking is if the Saginaw pump ever came on a vehicle with a serp system. |
Wildhorses4x4 sells a press on serpentine version, Item #2062
I talked to both Wildhorses about their #2069 v belt and Borgeson about their v belt #801105 today. Wildhorses4x4 was unable to confirm whether their 2069 is a Saginaw 801105. I purchased a Borgeson 801105 thru summitracing. |
Thanks for posting those links. What I need, however, is the .750 shaft pulley that has the puller attachment not so far out in front of the V belt. I need to go back to the J/Y and get one. Something like one of the photos in this link, maybe not quite to this extent. (The shaft on this is the wrong size.)

Why not just buy the borgeson? |
