Hello Toni, very good job. I am now also in the process of derusting and priming the fenders. I will weld the rust holes and leave the dents. so no filler. It's fun to see how the Ford takes shape.
How many hours did it take you for the fenders?
greetings Bernd

I got mine from EMS automotive about a year ago, you can try calling them at 1-248-546-0232 or visit EMS Auto

Also you might want to PM 52Merc on this as I think he still has a set for sale the last time I messaged him.

Cheers,

-Anthony

hello, i got some for the front fenders today. Are already on the way to me. For the cabin I get the corners from Carpenter. then comes to me with the big package. What I didn't find are sheet metal parts for the rear fenders. Are there any on the market?
Greetings Bernd

I haven't found patch panels for the rear, and I have been searching quite a bit. That's going to test my abilities for sure.

Thank you very much! I am finding that preserving the panels I have, rather then replacing them has been far more work than I anticipated.

Haven't loaded it with anything yet but even jumping on the thing barely moves it, stiffer still when I get around to putting shocks on it. Good enough for the average load i expect.

02/10/2022 Update

Funny how such a small part of the truck can take such a long time to restore, especially when you're trying to save as much of the original metal as possible. But the running boards ended up taking a full month to restore. One thing you'll see in this update is how I did it, but more importantly how they look once done. Since my original plan was to preserve as much of the original paint as possible, I decided to do the rust remediation, color match them to the rusty boards, then clear coat them. I am not into the rusty petina for this truck, but the running boards just look better preserving their history, dents and all.

Lastly, and not really on my list is that I still have not resolved the emergency brake cable setup yet, so now that I'm done with the front of the truck, I think it's time to get that done before I move onto the bed.

The running boards look real good.

Is the Meadow Green on the wheels a different shade than the Meadow Green on the body? Or does it just look that way?

It's funny that they do look green-ish in pictures, but they are actually the grey color the phone company used to use. The old farmer had painted these wheels white, but I didn't want to have the wheels white even though I wanted to restore the truck to the way he had it. I know they came either body colored, or black from the factory, so this was my compromise. :)

Running boards look great, and your fixes should outlast us.

bernd61hd 02-10-2022 10:49 PM

hello, you used these replacement sheets in the running boards. Did you make these yourself or buy them? I have the same problem with the rust? Where can I buy these sheets?

I ended up cutting up the spare F1 running board I had to make the patches. they don't make patch panels for the running boards sadly.

02/17/2022 Update

This week was quite productive regarding a few of the to-do list items, one of which is how I solved for the E-brake setup. If you don't have a working set of original E-brake components, or you upgraded to a Dana 60 like I did, this is how I got it done. Here's a list of items you will need in order to put this together.

1. 49-50 Shoebox Ford Parking brake cable (ebay):: 8A-2853-C
2. Rear E-Brake components from an 82 era F150 (See pictures)
3. Raybestos left and Right E-Brake cables to the drum :: BC92492 and BC92493

The shoebox ford cable fits right into the stock brake handle, and the retainer under the cab, just like OEM. Where things will change a bit are from that cable to the rear wheels. I hope this helps someone out. I was really pleased at how well the E-brake works.

Ebay has these cables that will fit right into the E-brake handle and the end clamp under the truck
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...286241f2ca.jpg
In the RED BOX is the cable pulling mechanism you will need from the F150, along with the cable retainer bracket. If you have a short bed truck, I don't think you would need to weld the extender bracket on there.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...2f1d67755f.jpg
These cables were just the right length. I wouldn't have been sad if the driver's side cable was a few inches longer though.

03/28/2022 Update

As expected, the bed has been a very big project. With the rust, prior accident damage, and years of abuse, I have my hands full. Good news is that while it's not done yet, I have made pretty good progress in the last month from getting it pulled out of the corner of the shop, to disassembly, and now on to fabrication. What I have decided to do was to replace the old wood bed with steel, something that will provide the fram with lateral strength, and hold up to a really good beating. In the pictures you'll see that I have completed a few of these steps, but still a long way to go.
