FSA 18N04 Can’t be Fixed

I have a 2019 F250 KR Diesel. So far I love my new truck. I’ve had this FSA alert for about a month now. Yesterday I took the truck to the dealership for my first oil change (7,500 miles oil life 20%). The dealer said they are aware of the FSA but the Ford computer system has a virus and they can’t connect to re-program without risk of killing the trucks computer. Does that make any sense? Has anyone else experienced this with that FSA?

What is this FSA and what does it correct?

I believe 18N04 is a computer/programming update applied to some California vehicles for emissions. Unlike a latch recall which is all mechanical, it would make sense that if the dealership computers cannot connect to Ford it would prevent them from doing the FSA.

I took mine to Big Star Ford in Pearland and they completed it without any trouble while doing an oil change. I'm not sure what the problem is but you could always call Big Star service and see what they do... Good luck.

If Ford truck computers are vulnerable to malware that kills the truck computer, that's an issue in itself worthy of an update. Do they make Norton Antivirus Super Duty edition?

I called my dealership and they said if I didnt have a CEL it wasn't needed at this time

It wasn’t an issue of there being a virus. There was corruption in the download if it wasn’t done properly which didn’t let it bring in all the new files. Ford released a message on pts for how the dealers can deal with it. We are doing them just fine since.
